This is my cheap soap cutter. It works well for my small batches of soap that I make.
This is some soap that I made.
This is the mold I used. It's a 2 LB mold that measures
3X7X5 that when cut makes 14 bars that are 2X3X1.
Usually I only make 1 LB batches so it only makes 7 bars
2X3X1.
This is my cheapo cutter. A piece of wood, dowel rod and
some fishing line. All of which I had on hand so it cost nothing.
You need the slot in front of the dowel rods for the fishing
line to finish the cut. The rods were epoxied in for strength.
A couple of twist with the fishing line around each dowel rod
at the correct height and I split my log.
If I make another one I will make my board long enough
to hold the log. I didn't need to split a log when I made it.
Just line up the soap with the line for the size of bar you need.
I kind of pull the line back against the rods to make a straight cut.
It makes a nice clean cut. Especially nice if you have swirls
that you don't want smeared.
